Petroleum Geology and Oil Exploration in the Ordos Basin

  • Liu Yan

The Ordos Basin is the second largest sedimentary basin in China, with abundant oil and gas resources and broad exploration prospects. With the continuous advancement of oil and gas exploration and development technology and the increasing demand for energy, the goal of global oil and gas exploration and development has gradually shifted from conventional structural trap reservoirs to dense oil and gas in unconventional fields. Although the upper and lower limits of tight reservoirs have been studied and defined, a systematic classification of tight reservoirs has not been carried out, which makes the compact oil and gas lack effective guidance in the selection of targets during the exploration process. Based on the simple algorithm, this paper studies the petroleum geology and oil exploration in the Ordos Basin through the analysis of the pore throat structure in the tight reservoir.
